Warriors are Perfect in Wisconsin

Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin -- A five-set victory over defending NJCAA Division II national champion Parkland (Ill.) College highlighted Indian Hills' 4-0 weekend in a tourney at the Dells.

In their final match of the tournament, Indian Hills won the first two sets from Parkland, 27-25 and 25-22, before dropping the next two, 28-26 and 25-20. By winning the decisive fifth set 15-12, Indian Hills put an end to Parkland's 60-match winning streak and improved their season record to 5-0.

IHCC had won three-set matches against Sauk Valley (Ill.) (25-8, 25-10, 25-16) and Monroe (N.Y.) (25-18, 25-22, 25-19) on Saturday. Sunday began with a 3-1 win against Owens (Ohio) prior to the clutch victory over Parkland.

Camila Nicoletti led the Warriors at the net against Monroe with 23 kills. Sophomore setter Yanjiao Zhao had 45 assists in that match and a total of 160 in the four matches, including a whopping 51 assists against Parkland.

Against Sauk Valley, Iva Popovic had a team-high six blocks. Nicoletti and Bailey Darnall each had 15 kills in the Owens match and Jessica DaSilva picked up nine blocks. In addition to Zhao's 51 assists in the victory over Parkland, Nicoletti pounded 18 kills and Antonia Ivanovic had 20 digs.

On their way back to Ottumwa, Indian Hills will travel through South Holland, Ill., in suburban Chicago, to play a pair of matches on Monday afternoon.
