IHCC Volleyball Splits Two in Marshalltown

Ottumwa -- Recovering from their second straight loss, to Lincoln Land (Ill.) in their first match of the day, Indian Hills came back with a dominating performance in a straight-set win over Southwestern (Ia.) CC.

Lincoln Land defeated the Warriors, who had sustained their first defeat of the season the previous night at home against Jefferson (Mo.) College, in four sets, 25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-18. IHCC then took care of Southwestern with ease, winning 25-8, 25-8 and 25-12.

IHCC's Camila Nicoletti had 18 kills and Bailey Darnall 12 in the match with Lincoln Land. Setter Yanjiao Zhao was credited with 45 assists, Antonia Ivanovic had 14 digs and Chen Shenglan 12, and Jessica Da Silva had five blocks.

Coach Lyndsey Michel was able to use 14 players in the Southwestern contest. Darnall had 12 kills, Ivanovic led in digs for the third straight match with 11, Zhao served up three aces and had 41 assists, and Da Silva had four blocks.

The Warriors are 9-2 and will travel to take on No. 4 Iowa Western in a conference duel in Council Bluffs on Wednesday night.
