Former Warrior Merseli Shines in 1st Season at UND

Ottumwa -- The Big Sky Conference Newcomer of the Year is North Dakota's Tamara Merseli, a former two-time All-American at Indian Hills. Merseli was also named to the Big Sky's all-conference first team and helped lead them to a regular season conference championship and a chance to host the league tourney for the first time.

Merseli is first in kills (328) and second in digs (451) for the Fighting Hawks who will compete in the conference tournament on their home court in Grand Forks, N.D.

The only Indian Hills volleyball standout to be named an NJCAA All-American twice, Merseli was an honorable mention pick as a freshman and a second-team choice after her sophomore campaign at IHCC. She was also a first-team All-Region selection. The native of Belgrade, Serbia is 6th in kills on the Indian Hills single-season list and ended her two-year career 4th all-time in kills.
