IHCC Drops Match to Kirkwood

Cedar Rapids, Iowa -- In a battle of rated teams, Kirkwood (13th in NJCAA DII) knocked off Indian Hills (16th in DI) in five sets at Johnson Hall on Thursday night. 

The Warriors took the opening set, 25-21, and Kirkwood responded with a pair of 25-20 decisions over the next two sets.  Indian Hills seized the momentum with a 7-0 run at the end of the fourth set, which they took 25-18, but Kirkwood was able to recover to claim set five, 15-9.

IHCC had double-digit kills total from three players, Mariana Rodrigues leading the way with 19.  Iva Vranic had 16 and Cecilia Campos 13.  Rodrigues also had 13 digs.  Amanda Toyota led in that stat with 18.  Toyota, setter Yasmin Assis and Makenzie Eaton all had two ace serves.

The Warriors will take a 9-4 record into action at home on Monday night against Hawkeye CC.
