IHCC Volleyball Knocked Out of Postseason

Park Hills, Missouri -- Indian Hills lost its bid to play in the NJCAA National Tournament when it dropped a straight-set decision to Mineral Area College on Saturday on the Cardinals' homecourt.  The Warriors had opened the super regionals with a 3-1 win against John A. Logan (Ill.) College, but couldn't get past Mineral Area, whom they had also lost to during the regular season, in the regional final.

Against John A. Logan, IHCC bounced back nicely after losing the first set, 28-26, by winning the next three, 25-18, 25-20, 25-19.  Mariana Rodrigues led the Indian Hills net attack with 18 kills and a hitting percentage of .357.  Cecilia Campos added 15 kills and hit .275.  Laisa Telles Maeda had 34 assists and Iva Vranic nine blocks for the Warriors.  Amanda Toyota had a season-high 26 digs to lead the defense, with Rodrigues contributing 13 and Campos 11.

Mineral Area, though, took care of the Warriors by scores of 25-15, 27-25, 25-17.  Rodrigues had 16 kills to close out the season with 537, an average of 4.26 per set and the sixth-highest single season total in school history.  Campos chipped in 10 kills, Maeda had 21 assists and Toyota added 14 digs for a team-best 485 for the year. 

The Warriors end the year with an 18-16 record and will lose eight sophomores off this year's squad.
