IHCC Takes Down DMACC at Home

DMACC

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills carried the momentum of its early-season tournament success into Wednesday night's home opener where the Warriors swept away visiting DMACC in three sets.  IHCC was coming off a solid performance in its 3-0 record at the tourney in Council Bluffs last weekend and quickly took care of the Bears in the first two sets at the Hellyer Center.

The Warriors jumped on top, 15-6, in the first set on the way to a 25-12 decision, led by a 21-7 score in winning 25-12 again in the next set, and then closed out DMACC with a 25-22 tally in the third.

DMACC got to within two points at 19-17 late in the third set before the Warriors finished them off.

As they did in the season-opening tournament, the Warriors scored points from all over the court against DMACC.  Mariana Rodrigues had a team-high 12 kills, but freshman Sydney Kloubec was right behind with 11.  Cassia Lemos piled up 40 assists and Thayna Birimba contribued four ace serves.

The Warriors take their undefeated record to LaJunta, Colorado this weekend for a tournament hosted by Otero Junior College.  They'll play four matches at OJC, then return home for a match against Jefferson (Mo.) College on Sept. 7.
