Warriors Win Tight Match With Jefferson

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills ran its season record to 9-0 with a straight-set victory over Jefferson (Mo.) College on Saturday afternoon at the Hellyer Center.  The Warriors, who had notched a 3-2 win against Jefferson in their season-opening tournament, won three close sets on their home court, 25-23, 25-20 and 26-24.

IHCC sophomore Thayna Birimba had a strong all-around performance with nine kills, a team-high 12 digs, six blocks and two ace serves.  Mariana Rodrigues topped Indian Hills with a dozen kills, Amanda Toyota had 10 digs, and setter Cassia Lemos picked up 41 assists, 11 digs and five aces.  Iva Vranic tied Birimba with six blocks as the Warriors kept their umblemished record intact.

Indian Hills has a busy week on the road, going to Missouri State-West Plains on Tuesday and then playing at Kirkwood CC Thursday and in Norfolk, Nebraska for a pair of matches on Friday.
