Two More Wins for IHCC Volleyball

Columbus, Nebraska -- The undefeated Indian Hills volleyball team made it three wins in a 24-hour period on Friday, beating two Nebraska schools -- Central and Northeast -- to run their record to 13-0.  Coming off a victory against Kirkwood the night before, the Warriors took three straight sets from Central CC, winning 25-22, 25-19, 25-15.  Then, they won the first two sets against Northeast CC, 25-19 and 25-17, lost 25-21, before closing out the Hawks with a 25-17 decision.

In the Central match, Mariana Rodrigues had a team-best 15 kills, Amanda Toyota led with 11 digs and Cassia Lemos picked up 45 assists,  Seven different Warriors had an ace serve. 

Against Northeast, Rodrigues again paced the offensive attack with 14 kills.  Iva Vranic had 13 and hit .435, and Thayna Birimba chipped in 10 kills.  The Warriors had 59 kills and a season-high 70 digs, with Toyota leading the way in that statistic with 22 and Rodrigues adding 18.  Lemos had 68 assists and 12 digs.  Vranic had eight of the season-best 26 blocks, Natalia Araujo had six and Nikoleta Kandic five.

Indian Hills puts its 13-0 mark on the line at home on Wednesday night against Carl Sandburg (Ill.) at 6:30.
