IHCC Knocks off MCC

Marshalltown, Iowa -- Bouncing back after suffering their first two losses of the season, the Indian Hills Warriors bested Marshalltown in straight sets on Wednesday night.  In their first conference action, IHCC won 25-17, 25-20, 25-16 to move their record to 17-2.

All three sets were close near the midway mark before the Warriors used a late run to secure the set.

The first set was tied at 11-all until Indian Hills used a 10-4 run to take control.  It was 12-10 IHCC the next set and still tight at 23-20 before the Warriors got the final two points.  The night's final set saw Indian Hills trail early 6-1 before rallying to even the score at 10-10, and then use a 6-0 run to finish off the Tigers.

Mariana Rodrigues paced IHCC with her 12 kills, one more than Iva Vranic, who hit .588 for the match.  Setter Cassia Lemos was outstanding with 45 assists and a team-high 17 digs.  Amanda Toyota added 13 digs.

In a quick turnaround, the Warriors return to action Thursday afternoon in a 3:00 meeting with Northeast (Neb.) CC.
