Rodrigues Repeats as All-American

Rodrigues

Ottumwa -- Mariana Rodrigues is a repeat selection on the NJCAA All-American volleyball team.  Rodrigues was named to the 12-player first team after being chosen as a second-team All-American following her freshman season.

Rodrigues earlier was honored as the Region XI Player of the Year.

The IHCC career leader in kills with 1090, Rodrigues was sixth in the nation with her total of 553 kills in 2019, an average of 4.04 per set.  She had double-digit kills in 35-of-41 matches this year.

The native of Santana de Parnaiba, Brazil, was second on the squad in digs with 426 and had 10 or more in 22 matches.  She also contributed 43 ace serves in leading Indian Hills to its first national tournament berth in 14 years.

Rodrigues is the second player in the history of the IHCC volleyball program to be a two-time All-American, joining Tamara Merseli in 2014-15.  The Warriors have had 12 volleyball All-Americans.  Four have been first-team picks -- Jebet Sang (2004), Jill Hoeck (2005), Karie Downing (2008) and Rodrigues.
