OFFENSIVE FLURRY CARRIES WARRIORS TO SWEEP

Ottumwa, IA – In one of its most dominant performances of the season, the Indian Hills Volleyball team swept Kirkwood Community College at the Hellyer Center on Friday afternoon. The Warriors move to 17-11 overall on the year.

The Warriors took the Eagles in straight sets – 25-16, 25-11, and 26-24. The Warriors hit .396 on the day, the team's second-highest mark on the season as four different Warriors hit .350 or better individually.

Precious Daley (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt) led the way for Indian Hills with 16 kills, the sophomore's second-best effort on the season. Daley's performance on the attack came with zero errors on 21 total attempts. Daley also added nine digs, five total blocks, and a pair of service aces in the victory.

Brooke Amann (Woodstock, IL/South Dakota State) complimented Daley on the attack with 13 kills on 25 attempts for a .480 hitting percentage. Amann has now posted nine matches with double-digit kill totals on the year.

Friday's match opened with a quick 4-0 lead from Kirkwood, but the Warriors battled back with a run of their own. An ace from Amann tied the match at 11 before Zara McCauley (Mount Barker, South Australia/Heathfield) and Jarolin de los Santos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Luis Munoz Rivera) blocked an attempt at the net to give Indian Hills its first lead of the first set. With an 18-16 lead, Daley served on seven straight points to close out the opening frame.

The Warriors kept its momentum going to open set two and built an early 9-3 lead. The Eagles fought back until a flurry of kills from Daley, Amann, and de los Santos lifted the Warriors to a 2-0 match lead. The three sophomores combined for 13 kills and just one error in the set.

Indian Hills fell behind early in the third set as Kirkwood took a 4-1 lead out of the gate until a pair of kills from Daley sparked a rally. The Warriors rebounded to tie the match at 11-all and outlasted Kirkwood to earn the nonconference sweep.

The Warriors' homestand continues with a 6:00 PM match vs. Hawkeye on Oct. 25 at the Hellyer Center.
