NO. 19 WARRIORS SWEEP JEFFERSON AT HOME

Ottumwa, IA – The No. 19 ranked Indian Hills Volleyball squad dropped Jefferson College (MO) in straight sets at the Hellyer Center on Tuesday night to move to 18-7 overall on the year. The Warriors dropped the Vikings 27-25, 25-18, and 27-25.

The Warriors improved to 5-0 at home this year after defeating the Vikings for the third consecutive match, and eighth time in the last night contests vs. their National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball Midwest District foe. Indian Hills used a .307 hitting percentage to run past the Vikings, the fifth .300-plus match of the year for the Warriors.

Sophomore Sara Van Gisteren (Leuth, Netherlands/Young Talent Academy ROC Nijmegen) led the charge with a match-high 19 kills on 32 attempts for a .438 attack percentage. Joanna Pawlik (Lublin, Poland/Nauczycieli Tajnego Nauczania) added 11 kills for the Warriors while Piper Nelson (Atkins, IA/Benton) chipped in nine, including four in the opening frame.

Sophomore Sabrina Nogueira Da Silva (São Paulo, Brazil/Colégio Campos Salles) and freshman Asialin Powell (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt) combined for 30 digs to anchor the defense for the Warriors. Da Silva added a pair of service aces along with five assists in the victory.

Freshman Ana Luiza Caminha Matos (Betim, Brazil/Augusto de Lima) put together one of her top performances of the season, posting 20 assists on the night to go along with one kills, a block, and a pair of digs.

Trailing late in the third set, Van Gisteren sparked the Warrior rally down the stretch. The sophomore closed out the match with a service ace, her second of the night, to clinch the victory. Van Gisteren, who ranks second in the country with 457 kills this year, is the only player in the nation with at least 375 kills and 30 service aces on the year.

Indian Hills returns to action Thursday night to take in an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) showdown vs. Iowa Western Community College at the Hellyer Center. First serve is set for 7:00 PM.

As a part of Thursday's contest, all youth and high school sports teams will receive free admission to the contest and are encouraged to wear their team jersey/apparel.
