NO. 1 WARRIORS CAP PERFECT SEASON

Mason City, IA – Top-ranked Indian Hills Women's Wrestling won six of seven matches on its way to a 42-6 victory over No. 9 North Iowa Area Community College on Wednesday night. The Warriors move to 5-0 on the year in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) dual action.

Indian Hills picked up four pins on its way to scoring the most points in a single dual in program history. The 36-point margin of victory was also the most for an Indian Hills team in the three-year existence of the program.

Freshman Dutchess King (Lansing, IL/Thornton Fractional South), the No. 1 nationally ranked 101lb wrestler in the country, wrestled in the 109lb bout for the second consecutive dual and picked up her second straight win. King defeated No. 3 Tatiana Hernandez with an 8-3 decision.

No. 1 Shammilka Miranda Diaz (Puerto Rico/Eugenio Guerra Cruz) scored six points in succession en route to a 10-0 tech fall at the 116lb weight class. Miranda Diaz improved to 13-2 on the year with the win and has not lost since December 16.

No. 2 Liannette Ortiz (Kissimmee, FL/Gateway) picked up the Warriors' first fall of the night with a pin in 1:43 in the first round. The five team points helped put the Warriors ahead 12-1.

Freshman Taylor Angle (Plains, MT/Plains) reversed an early deficit to pick up a second round pin for the Warriors in the 130lb matchup. Angle scored the fall in 4:38 as Indian Hills extended its lead.

Defending national champion Alondra Rosado Martinez (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio Amarlieen) continued to dominate the 136lb weight class as the sophomore scored a first round fall in 2:29. Rosado Martinez is now 8-1 on the year.

Indian Hills picked up three forfeit wins before freshman Karla Padilla Zepeda (South Weber, UT/North Ridge) closed out the night with a pin in 1:48.

The Warriors close out the first-ever ICCAC regular season with an unblemished record. Indian Hills will travel to the Warrior Open in Fremont, NE on February 12, the team's final outing before the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women's Wrestling Invitational March 3-4 in Council Bluffs, IA.
