MAT NOTES
For the third consecutive year, the Indian Hills Women's Wrestling squad will head south to Kansas City for the Avila Duals. The Warriors are set to square off against four NAIA programs at the Maybee Fieldhouse.
- The Warriors are 5-2-1 all-time at the Avila Duals, including a 3-1 record last year where the Warriors defeated Avila 38-10 and Ottawa 55-1.
- Indian Hills enters the weekend with a 4-1 dual record on the year, but the Avila Duals will be the first non-NJCAA matchups of the year for the Warriors.
- The Warriors maintained their spot atop the national rankings at No. 1 in both the NJCAA and The Open Mat Team Tournament rankings, and checked in at No. 2 in The Open Mat Team Dual rankings.
- Freshman Chasey Karabell is this week's ICCAC Women's Wrestling Athlete of the Week after a dominant performance at the Conner/Oppenheim Open on Saturday, pinning the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the nation.

"This weekend is about finding our identity and fighting every second of the match," stated head coach Darren Wynn. "We'll have some tough opponents but were ready to go to war."
SCOUTING THE FIELD
All four opponents for the Warriors checked into the latest NAIA Women's Wrestling Coaches National Rankings.
- Ottawa (KS) is ranked No. 10 in the nation followed by Wayland Baptist (TX) at No. 17. Both Saint Mary (KS) and Avila (MO) received votes in this week's poll.
- Avila enters the weekend having dropped all three duals on the year. The Eagles feature three individuals in the national rankings at 103, 160, and 207.
- Wayland Baptist is 1-0 in dual action on the year, a 44-2 win over Trinidad State. The Piooners feature six nationally ranked individuals, including No. 4 Jordan Suarez at 138lbs.
- Ottawa boasts a 2-0 dual record this year, including a 40-8 win over Avila on November 15. The Braves' lineup features 10 nationally ranked individuals, includingNo. 4 Hannah Jackson at 207lbs and No. 5 Darb Weidl at 160lbs.
- Indian Hills is 2-0 vs. the Braves, having met at each of the last two Avila Duals.
- Indian Hills freshman Chasey Karabell scored a 10-0 tech fall over Ottawa's Almarwa Alkhalil at last week's Conner/Oppenheim Open.
- Saint Mary is coming off a 37-12 win over Avila on December 5 before a strong showing at Saturday's Conner/Oppenheim Open. The Spires feature three individuals in the latest NAIA poll.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Warriors head into the holiday break and will return to action with a home Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) matchup vs. Iowa Central at 6:00 PM on January 15 in Centerville, IA.
