Elijah Berry, Track & Field

The Indian Hills Community College Athletic Department has named Elijah Berry as January’s Student-Athlete of the Month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in both their respective sport, as well as the classroom.

Berry, a freshman from Snellville, Georgia has been nothing but stellar around the oval. Berry is currently the programs record holder in the 600y (1:10.81), 800m (1:55.40) and second all-time in the 400m (48.77). He has also qualified for the NJCAA National meet in the 400m, 600m, and 800m. His record times have him nationally ranked at 4th in the 600m, 7th in the 800m and 23rd in the 400m. Coach Ewing said, “Elijah has established himself as one of the best middle distance runners in the NJCAA. He is a true triple threat. We’re still figuring out what his best event is. His range has caught the attention of LSU, Texas A&M, Iowa, Iowa State and Minnesota to name a few. What I really enjoy about Elijah is his attitude and how important academics are to him. He has such a positive influence on our team and is a very impressive young man. He has only scratched the surface of what he will accomplish this year as a Warrior.
