MALIK EARNS ICCAC WEEKLY HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – Taimur Malik (Nairobi, Kenya/Braeburn Garden Estate) of the Indian Hills Men’s Golf team has been tapped as this week’s Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men’s Golfer of the Week. Malik becomes the third Warrior to win the weekly honor this year.

Malik helped guide the Warriors at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Preview at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, KS last week. Indian Hills finished seventh overall as a team while Malik was the highest ICCAC finisher among the 83-player field, placing 12th overall with a 3-over 216.

Malik posted a tournament-best 70 in the second round of the 54-hole event. The freshman tallied 34 pars while collecting nine birdies over the three rounds of play.

Malik joins teammates Gaspar Glaudas (Sainte Tulle, France/Shattuck St-Mary’s) and Damian Osner (George, South Africa/Glenwood House) to land the ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors this year.

Malik, who placed fourth overall at this week’s Flyer Intercollegiate in Lemont, IL with a 2-over 144, has now posted three top-4 finishes on the year for the Warriors.

Next up for the Warriors is the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational on October 10-11 in Wichita, KS.
