Buycks - TBT

Ottumwa -- Former Indian Hills basketball All-American Dwight Buycks recently finished off a solid performance in this summer's The Basketball Tournament, leading his team, the Marquette Golden Eagles, to the championship game of the annual event.

Buycks was named to the six-player all-tournament team after scoring in double figures in every game of the tourney, including a 34-point effort in the Super 16 contest.

The Marquette squad lost to Carmen's Crew -- a team made up of former Ohio State University players -- in the championship contest with the winners taking home a $2 million prize in the winner-take-all, 64-team tournament.

Buycks played two years at Marquette following his two seasons at Indian Hills.  He was the first two-time basketball All-American at IHCC and is the 4th-leading scorer in program history.  After leaving Marquette the Milwaukee native began a pro career that has seen him play for three teams in the NBA as well as overseas stints in Belgium, France, Spain and China.

He was inducted into the Indian Hills Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016.
