Indian Hills Cruises to 7th Win in a Row

John Wood

Ottumwa -- The 9th-ranked Indian Hills Warriors put an exclamation mark on the first half of their season with a blowout win over Ellsworth at the Hellyer Center Saturday night.  IHCC drilled a season-best 18 3-pointers and rolled over the Panthers, 102-57, to take a 7-game winning streak into the holiday break.  It was the second time in as many nights the Warriors surpassed the 100-point barrier, after doing that just once in their first 13 games.

Thirteen of the 18 threes came in a first half when the Warriors made 13-of-23 3-point attempts.  Chris Childs increased his season total to 56 by draining six of his seven treys in the opening 20 minutes.  He became the second Warrior in five days to record a 20-point first half.  Tyon Grant-Foster scored 21 first-period points in a lopsided victory against Southwestern CC on Tuesday.

Grant-Foster and Drake Jeffries each scored 14 vs. ECC, giving Jeffries 30 points in the HyVee Classic.

Childs banged home his 4th three just seven minutes into the game.  By the time Childs connected IHCC already owned a 24-8 advantage and the sophomore guard got his 6th, and his team's 11th, late in the half.  Indian Hills went to the break on a 10-0 run and owned a 42-point bulge in the final minutes of play.

The Warriors cooled off from 3-point distance over the last half, but still managed to make 44 percent for the game.  They dominated Ellsworth on the glass to the tune of 54-26.  JD Muila's 10 rebounds led the way.

Josh Donaldson's 18 points topped ECC.  Anthony Eddy added 14.

Indian Hills is idle until they head to West Plains, Missouri, for a pair of games that will begin the second half of the schedule.  First up is a contest against Arkansas Baptist on Jan. 3, then a return engagement against Missouri State-West Plains, whom they drilled 119-81 on Friday night, the next evening.
