Indian Hills Mauls Black Hawk to Stay Perfect at Home

Black Hawk

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills overcame a slow start in its non-conference contest with Black Hawk-Moline on Tuesday night and pulled away after the first eight minutes for a 104-57 blowout of the Braves.  The win kept the Warriors' home record unblemished at 14-0 heading into a key conference showdown with Southeastern this Saturday night.

There were five ties early, the last one at 13-all before a 3-pointer by freshman guard Theo Bourgeois ignited a streak of 14 points in a row for the Warriors.  The run included a steal and layup by Bourgeois following his three, back-to-back buckets by Tyon Grant-Foster, a goal by Chris Payton and a triple by Grant-Foster that left the score at 27-13.  A 3-pointer by Black Hawk's Kiir Mabor temporarily slowed down the Warriors, but they outscored the visitors, 26-7 the remainder of the half.

Grant-Foster led six IHCC double-digit scorers with 20.  Payton tied his season-high with 18 and Chris Childs poured in three second-half threes for a 14-point night.  Ben Lyon established his season-best with 12, a total matched by Samba Kane.

The Warriors entered the game making over 41 percent of their 3-point attempts, but connectesd on only 3-of-13 in the second period and ended the night at 32 percent.  They did shoot 55 percent from the floor, however.

Drake Jeffries had been in double figures in 10 of the last 12 games, but was held scoreless.  He pulled down nine rebounds, though, and had three assists, a steal and a blocked shot.  IHCC blocked eight shots, including three each by Malique Jacobs and Grant-Foster.

Forty of the Braves' 57 points were scored by Delaney Little and Mabor -- 24 for Little and 16 from Mabor.

Indian Hills puts its unbeaten homecourt mark on the line against SCC Saturday, looking to avenge a 73-69 loss to the Blackhawks earlier this month.  Tip time will be 7:00.
