Shearer Joins Coaching Staff

Ottumwa -- Zachary Shearer is the new assistant for the Indian Hills men's soccer program, assisting another new IHCC coach, Juan Espinal.  Shearer came to Indian Hills from Austin, Texas, where he was the head coach of various boys soccer teams ages 8-16.  In that role, he conducted training for over 40 players on a given day, focusing on technical and tactical development.

Shearer served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Concordia University in Austin and his hiring at IHCC marks a return to the state of Iowa for the one-time assistant soccer coach and housing coordinator at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge.  Since 2007 Shearer has been a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO)-Food Service Sergeant in the United States Army where among his duties was organizing and maintaining a dining facility designed to feed 500 soldiers.  He has a bachelor's degree in history and a master's in education, sports administration from Concordia University in Texas.
