Indian Hills Men Run at National Cross Country Meet

NJCAA meet

Albuquerque, New Mexico -- The Indian Hills men's cross country team capped off its season by taking part in the NJCAA National Championship meet on Nov. 9.  The Warriors' seven runners joined around 340 other competitors and IHCC was one of 45 teams that ran at the University of New Mexico North Golf Course.

Zach Schocker led Indian Hills with his time of 26:50, good for 78th place.  Next was Conner Riley, who was 98th in 27:05.  Ethan Mesenbrink ran 28:16 and Ben Oliver 28:45.  Micha Reed's time was 29:04, Seth Kilborn's was 29:50 and Jacob Glandon rounded out the IHCC runners with his clocking of 30:15.

The Warriors were 28th as a team, a finish IHCC head coach Brent Ewing had thought, going into the meet, would be a little better.  "Although the national meet didn't go as well as the team had hoped, it shouldn't take away from the progress we made as a whole this season," Ewing said.  "The guys definitely were hoping to crack the top 20 but we weren't quite aggressive enough.  Nonetheless, there were some very good performances and improvements.  Zach Schocker improved his placing this year by 25 spots at the national meet.  Conner Riley improved 65 places from last year.  Both of those results shouldn't go unnoticed.  My hopes are that the freshman class of ours sees the types of improvements they made and can begin preparing to make similar jumps for next year."
