Sports Shooting Fall Season Begins at Home

Centerville -- The Indian Hills sports shooting team had its first competition of the fall on Wednesday against Grand View University.  Grand View won the shoot, and Mother Nature was a winner too, with lightning and rain causing a halt to the competition about midway into the shooting.

"We were defeated by an always solid Grand View Vikings squad, 483-458," said IHCC coach Jake Stalzer.  "The weather was not on our side -- threatening weather delayed things halfway though for about an hour.  The long wait and having to finish up in the dark under the lights was something we never had to face before, let along in our first competition of the season."

Freshman Ryan Beitz was Indian Hills' top gun firing a 94.  Four of the top five shooters were freshmen in their first collegiate competition.  "I'm happy with how we started the 2019-20 campaign," Stalzer said.  "Things look bright for the program with the way the freshmen shot and we think we have a very competitive squad this year.

After Beitz, Dylan Murray had a 93, Sam Zimmerman a 91 and Drew Appleget and Cole Becker 90s for Indian Hills.

IHCC will return to action this Saturday, Sept. 21, at the High Lakes Outdoor Alliance in Afton, Iowa for a conference non-divisional matchup against Southwestern CC.
