IHCC Rallies For Split

Ottumwa -- A three-run 6th inning allowed Indian Hills to gain a split in a doubleheader with Illinois Central in the Warriors' StrikeOut Cancer day at R.L. Hellyer field on Sunday. The Warriors used that rally to win game two, 7-5, after dropping a 5-2 decision in the first game.

Illinois Central pushed across three unearned runs against IHCC reliever Olivia Goodale to break a 2-2 tie in game one. Sierra Walton had two hits and Taylor Takushi and Shyanne DuBois scored the Indian Hills runs. Lexi Smith had the only RBI. Marissa Promes went the first five innings in the circle for the Warriors.

Back came the Warriors in the second game, plating three runs late to get the victory. DuBois singled twice and homered and scored two runs. Walton also collected three hits, and Erin Kuba, a cancer survivor who was the inspiration for the StrikeOut Cancer event, had a pair of singles. Tayah Hayes ran her season record to 4-0, getting the win with four shutout innings of relief while allowing four hits and one unearned run.
