Reivers Take Two from IHCC

Council Bluffs, Iowa -- Iowa Western held off a late second-game rally by Indian Hills and took both games of an ICCAC doubleheader on Saturday, winning by scores of 8-4 and 8-6. The Warriors had more hits than IWCC in each game. They plated three runs in the top of the 7th in game two, but the rally fell short.

Iowa Western took a 3-1 lead after one inning of the opener and won, despite being outhit 10-7 by the Warriors. Lexi Smith knocked in two runs for IHCC and Abby Straight accounted for another run with a solo homer. Erin Kuba had two hits. Marissa Promes was the starting pitcher and took the loss with Tayah Hayes coming on in relief.

The Reivers broke a 1-1 tie in the nightcap with four second-inning runs. Sierra Walton, Smith, Straight and Taylor Jones all had two-hit games for Indian Hills and Shyanne DuBois and Kuba both doubled and drove in a pair of runs. Olivia Goodale was the starting and losing pitcher with Straight providing two innings of relief.

The Warriors are right back in action on Sunday in another conference twinbill on the road, playing at Marshalltown.
