Nine Warriors, Coach North Get All-Region Softball Honors

Laura North Coach of the Year

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills had five players on the All-Region first team and four more on the second team in honors released by the ICCAC office. In addition, IHCC coach Laura North was named the Region XI Coach of the Year after piloting the Warriors to their third consecutive Region XI regular season title in her three years as head coach of the Warriors.

IHCC sophomore Shyanne DuBois was selected as the region's Player of the Year after garnering her second straight first-team All-Region accolade. And freshman pitcher Olivia Goodale was the Co-Pitcher of the Year in the region.

DuBois, a two-year starter at shortstop, was one of three players from Indian Hills chosen for their second All-Region team in a row. Catcher Sierra Walton was a first-team pick this year, as she was as a freshman, and Marissa Promes was one of the pitchers on the second team, just like last year.

The first-team selections, along with DuBois, Goodale and Walton, were a pair of IHCC freshmen -- outfielder Taylor Takushi and infielder Lexi Smith.

Promes' teammates who joined her on the second team included sophomore infielder Kassidi Henderson, and two more freshmen -- infielder Erin Kuba and freshman Taylor Jones.

The Warriors won the Region XI championship with a 9-3 record, edging Iowa Western by one game.
