Indian Hills Takes Down Kirkwood

Harrington

Cedar Rapids, Iowa -- Coming off a three-homer performance against Iowa Lakes this past Saturday, Macey Harrington was at it again for the  Indian Hills softball team on Tuesday in a doubleheader at Kirkwood.  Harrington slugged a 3-run home run in the opener and two more long balls in the nightcap, helping the Warriors take both games from No. 4-rated Kirkwood, 7-2 and 8-6.

IHCC plated five runs in the top of the 6th inning in game one, a rally that was capped by Harrington's homer with two teammates aboard.  Kirkwood's two runs came on a pair of solo homers, one an inside-the-park shot.  Those were the only hits for the Eagles.

The second game was tied 4-4 after four innings, then the Warriors pushed four runs across in the top of the 5th.  That inning included another Harrington homer, giving the freshman outfielder 11 for the season, six of them coming in the last four games.  She drove in five runs as the Warriors completed the sweep against Kirkwood, which dropped to 17-6 for the spring.

IHCC is 11-14 and heads to Creston for a twinbill with Southwestern CC on Wednesday.
