On to Semifinals for Women's Soccer

Ottumwa -- Thanks to two goals each by Emily Murphy and Emma Rosner and another shutout performance by goalkeeper Megan Wick the Indian Hills women's soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the Region XI postseason tournament with a 4-0 blanking of visiting Iowa Lakes at the IHCC field on Sunday.

With the victory, the Warriors (13-3) move on to play top-seeded Iowa Western on Wednesday in Council Bluffs with the winner getting a spot in the championship game next Saturday.  The other semifinal has Northeast (Neb.) taking on Iowa Central.  The title match will be played on the home field of the highest seed.

As she has so often this fall, Emily Murphy got the scoring started for Indian Hills with a goal in the first half, her 36th of the year and the 10th time in 16 games she has tallied the first IHCC goal.  Emma Rosner assisted on Murphy's goal and Rosner netted the next two scores for the Warriors, a first-half goal assisted by Kiri Chiba and another in the 60th minute with an assist from Charlyann Pizzarello.  Murphy ended the scoring with another goal later in the final half, assisted by Julie Gouilliart.  Rosner's two goals give her 17 on the season.

Meanwhile, Wick had another clean sheet in goal for IHCC, her 4th in a row and 8th this fall.  She had three saves.

It was the third win against Iowa Lakes for the Warriors who had defeated them 5-3 in the season opener and 5-2 in mid-September.  IHCC will now look to avenge an earlier loss to Iowa Western, 3-0 last month in Council Bluffs.
