A Clean Sweep in Kansas

Overland Park, Kansas -- The Indian Hills volleyball team had a productive trip to Kansas, beating Highland CC, Kirkwood CC and Johnson County CC, each in straight sets.  The win at Highland came on Friday before the Warriors journeyed to Johnson County for a pair of matches Saturday.

The results left IHCC with a 31-3 record and a 13-match winning streak.  They won 16 in a row to begin the season.

Against Highland, Indian Hills won 25-13, 25-22, 25-19, and were led by Mariana Rodrigues' 17 kills and .538 hitting percentage.  Ana Nunes added 10 kills.  Cassia Lemos had 46 assists and a team-high 13 digs while Amanda Toyota helped out with 10 digs.  Rodrigues, Iva Vranic and Nunes were all in on five blocks.  The team's hitting percentage was .423, second-best this season.

The scores against Kirkwood were 25-17, 25-18, 25-12.  Rodrigues again paced the Warriors with her 10 kills and Vranic had eight and a .636 hitting mark.  Lemos registered another 36 assists to go along with four service aces and 11 digs.  Toyota led with 13 digs.  Although just short of Friday's number, the team hit .403.

The Warriors completed their Kansas sweep against Johnson County with set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 26-24.  This time it was Thayna Birimba and Iva Vranic who tied for the lead in kills with eight each and Lemos and Toyota who had nine digs apiece.  Lemos added another 28 assists to her season total and Vranic had six blocks.  

Indian Hills enters the final week of the regular season where it will have road matches at DMACC on Monday and Iowa Western Wednesday.
