Grinnell, Iowa -- Despite muddy conditions, the IHCC women's cross country team managed to have their first four runners all finish within a minute of each other at the Les Duke Invitational. Sophomore Kaylee Ford led the way for IHCC with a 49th place finish. She was closely followed by sophomore Ashlyn Elmore in 55th. A trio of freshmen rounded out the top-5 scorers for the Warriors with Morgan Lawson, Halley Wilmes, and Morgan McKinney-McGill finishing 65th, 69th and 86th, respectively.

Coach Ewing said after the race, "Our women finished feeling very positive about their races. Each of them finished the race going through the 5k-mark faster than their 5k time at the previous race." Ewing added, "Kaylee showed a lot of grit out there. Our team did a great job of continuing to make moves in the second half of the race. Halley especially had a very impressive performance and did a fantastic job of being tough late in the race. We took a really positive step forward today."

The Warriors Cross Country team will return to action Friday, September 21st at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana College. The race will begin at 3:30 p.m.
