WARRIORS PLACE 6TH AT GRAND VIEW INVITE

Ankeny, IA – Led by freshman Alyssa Shannon (Newton, IA/Newton), the Indian Hills Women's Cross Country team posted a sixth-place finish at the 2022 Grand View Invitational on Saturday.

Shannon placed 15th overall with a collegiate best time of 20:31.8 in the 5k event. Shannon topped her previous personal-best by nearly 40 seconds on Saturday.

Sophomore Lizeth Flores (Harvard, IL/Harvard) placed 31st overall for the Warriors with a time of 21:55.10, just eight seconds shy of setting a new personal best.

Morgan Klaus (Bloomfield, IA/Davis County) finished as the third Warrior to cross the line with a time of 22:50.05 to place 43rd overall.

Competing in her first event of the year, sophomore Emily Casterline (Pella, IA/Belvidere) returned to action for the Warriors with a time of 23:49.50

Freshman Cheyenne McGhee (El Paso, TX/El Paso) rounded out the scoring for the Warriors with a time of 24:14.24. Indian Hills also saw individual performances from first-time competitors Rachel Wildemuth (Davenport, IA/Davenport West) with a time of 26:55.60 and Peyton Steva (Iowa City, IA/Iowa City West) with a time of 33:29.91.

Along with the current Warriors' performances on Saturday, Indian Hills alumni Morgan Lawson, a 2020 graduate and now competing for Grand View took home first-place, winning the meet by over one minute.

The Warriors return to action on October 8 for the Seminole Valley Stampede in Cedar Rapids.
