DECEMBER HY-VEE STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE MONTH

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Athletic Department has announced its Hy-Vee December Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Month. Sophomore Oarabile Tshosa (Gaborone, Botswana/Good Hope) of the women's track and field team and sophomore Trevion LaBeaux (Waterloo, IA/Ames) have been recognized for their academic and athletic success throughout the month.

In her first year at Indian Hills, Tshosa made national headlines in the team's first two meets of the indoor season in early December. The sprinter set two new school records while capturing two United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Female Athlete of the Week honors.

In the team's season opener at the Washburn Invitational, Tshosa shattered two school records to kickstart her career as a Warrior. Tshosa set the 60-meter dash record with a time of 7.41 and the 200-meter dash record with a time of 24.26. The sophomore followed up a week later by breaking her own 200m record by .26 seconds with a time of 24.00.

Tshosa became the first-ever Indian Hills Women's Track & Field athlete to earn two career USTFCCCA honors. The Associate of Arts major was also selected to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Academic All-Region Second-Team for the fall term.

On the hardwood, LaBeaux powered the nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Basketball team to an impressive 5-1 record during the month, including a win over No. 3 nationally ranked Vincennes University (IN).

During the month, LaBaeux averaged 10.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game to lead the Warriors. The sophomore put together a dominant double-double against the defending national champion John A. Logan (IL) Volunteers on December 2 with 21 points and 11 rebounds. LaBaeux also tallied 14 points in the win over Vincennes.

LaBeaux is currently averaging a team-high 14.5 points and 9.6 rebounds for the Warriors who are off to a 13-4 start this year and ranked No. 16 in the national polls.
