Nikki came out of Lincoln High School in Des Moines to join an Indian Hills softball program which had been playing on the Ottumwa campus for only two seasons and she immediately left her mark.  Nikki compiled a 26-12 record with 152 strikeouts and a 1.49 ERA her freshman year and was named second-team all-region.  The next year, for the second straight season, she pitched her IHCC team into the national tournament where she had a game for the ages.  Nikki pitched all 23 innings in a second-round game against the top-seeded team, losing a heartbreaking 3-2 decision.  She came back and threw a shutout the next day and wound up the year with a 19-6 record and a 0.95 ERA that was the best in the state.  A first-team all-region pick, Nikki was also named a first-team All-American.  Her 26 wins as a freshman is the fifth-best total in a single season at IHCC and she is 1st in innings pitched, 2nd in appearances and 3rd in wins in a career.  After graduating from Indian Hills, Nikki moved on to Southeast Missouri State where she was a second-team all-conference pitcher as a junior and was named to the conference academic honor roll both years.
