One of the most decorated individuals in Indian Hills Softball history, Toni (Orr) Klaren will officially be inducted into the Indian Hills Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday night at halftime of the Indian Hills Men's Basketball game at the Hellyer Center in Ottumwa.

A mainstay in the Indian Hills record books since her departure, Klaren left a lasting legacy that helped contribute to two of the most dominant seasons in Warrior softball history. Klaren was a member of two consecutive National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament teams that won a total of 128 games, including a school record 66 in 2001.

A native of Fort Madison, IA, Klaren made an immediate impact for the Warriors as a freshman in 2000. The outfielder joined a program that had made nine consecutive national tournaments and posted at least 58 wins in four straight years. Klaren's play during her inaugural year guided the Warriors to 62 more wins and a sixth-place finish at the national tournament. For her effort in 2000, Klaren was named to the NJCAA All-Region XI First-Team.

Following a breakout freshman campaign, Klaren returned for her sophomore season that ranks among the best individual offensive seasons in school history. Klaren's speed and knack for getting on base and making the most of those opportunities resulted in a school record 46 walks and 45 stolen bases, third-most in a single season. Klaren also produced 10 triples, the second-most in a single season.

Klaren led the Warriors in 2001 with a .384 batting average, 76 hits, and 64 runs scored. For her efforts on the diamond, Klaren became the 10th NJCAA First-Team All-American in school history while also collecting National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First-Team All-American honors. Klaren was also selected to the NJCAA All-Region XI First-Team for the second consecutive season and named to the NFCA All-Midwest Region First-Team.

While the accolades were evident, Klaren's leadership on the 2001 squad helped the Warriors reach new heights. The team went on to win a school record 66 wins while claiming the NJCAA Region XI Championship and the NJCAA District Championship to advance to the national tournament.

Following Klaren's remarkable career at Indian Hills, the standout transferred to Morehead State University for two seasons. Klaren earned back-to-back First-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors, just the second player in program history to earn first-team status. Klaren led the Eagles in nine offensive categories, including a .345 batting average. Klaren still ranks fourth all-time in school history in batting average, fifth in on-base percentage, and sixth in slugging percentage.

While at Morehead State, Klaren was also named to the Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-America University Division Softball Second Team.

Klaren becomes the 16th individual from the Warrior softball program to be inducted into the Indian Hills Hall of Fame.

Klaren on her time at Indian Hills

"Indian Hills was a launching pad for both my college athletic career, and as an added bonus, the beginning of my future family. The leadership, success principles, and work ethic that is present within the IHCC Softball program created a path for me to continue to succeed at the Division I level as well as in my personal and professional life. I was blessed to meet my husband, Russ, during my time at Hills, as he is also an IHCC graduate. We have been married for 17 years and have two awesome daughters that I am blessed to coach and pass on my knowledge and passion for softball."
