FIGUEROA, NELSON LAND ICCAC HONORS
Centerville, IA – Sophomores Daniel Figueroa (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico/Leadership Christian Academy) and Jack Nelson (Zionsville, IN/Zionsville) have been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

The duo helped the Warriors go 3-1 on the weekend, including a 3-1 win over No. 8 Wabash Valley Community College. The Warriors are off to a 5-3 start on the year after back-to-back trips to Millington, TN.

Figueroa, an NJCAA All-Region XI First-Team selection last year, posted a .636 batting average over the four games last week, collecting seven hits with three multi-hit performances. The sophomore outfielder also scored seven runs and collected six stolen bases. Figueroa boasted a .714 on-base percentage during the stretch.

On the year, Figueroa is batting a team-high .519 with 14 base hits. Figueroa has hit safely in each of the team's last seven contests and is batting .607 during the stretch.

In the team's opener over the weekend vs. Kaskaskia College (IL), Nelson took the bump as the starting pitcher for the second time this year. Nelson twirled a gem with five innings of one-hit baseball. The sophomore hurler struck out seven and allowed just one earned run as the Warriors walked away with a 7-2 win.

With the gem, Nelson lowered his season earned run average to 2.61. Dating back to last season, Nelson has not issued a walk in 13.0 innings of work.

Both Figueroa and Nelson have now earned two ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors after each receiving the honor during their freshman campaign in 2022.

The Warriors return to action Saturday afternoon in Arkansas City, KS against No. 17  Cowley College (KS). The two sides will play a four-game series with a single game on Saturday, two on Sunday, and a single nine-inning game on Monday.
