NELSON NAMED ICCAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Centerville, IA – Sophomore pitcher Jack Nelson (Zionsville, IN/Zionsville Community) has been tapped as this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Pitcher of the Week after leading the Indian Hills Baseball squad to a shutout victory on Sunday.

Competing against Iowa Central Community College in an ICCAC matchup, Nelson tossed six innings of shutout ball on the road to help snap the Tritons' 16-game winning streak. Nelson scattered four hits and struck out six batters while issuing just one walk.

In a tight contest that didn't see a run cross the plate until the sixth inning, Nelson allowed just two baserunners through the first four frames of work. The stellar performance allowed Indian Hills to take a 2-0 lead in the sixth, an advantage the Warriors held onto for the remainder of the game to earn the win.

The win was Nelson's second of the season while the six scoreless frames lowered the southpaw's season earned run average to 3.60. Nelson ranks second on the team with 20 strikeouts in 20 innings of work on the year.

Indian Hills returns to action Wednesday afternoon for a conference doubleheader against Ellsworth Community College at Pat Daugherty Field. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
