LEADING OFF

The 2024 edition of the NJCAA Region 11 Tournament will have a new look this year with just two teams squaring off in the Division I tournament. 

  • Iowa Western and Indian Hills finished 1-2 in the three-team ICCAC DI standings this year to secure a bid to the postseason tournament.
  • The two sides will play a best two-of-three series with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Midwest District Tournament and a potential bid to the JUCO World Series.
  • 2024 marks just the second time in the last nine years the Region 11 Tournament will not be held at Pat Daugherty Field in Centerville.
  • Indian Hills has won 18 all-time NJCAA Region 11 Championships, with the first coming in 1969.
  • Sophomores Raul Torres and Miguel Salazar rank fifth in the nation in combined double plays between teammates with 58 on the year.

SERIES HISTORY

The Reivers took all three regular season contests against the Warriors, sweeping the ICCAC series April 27-29.

  • The Warriors are just 3-7 over the last 10 matchups against Iowa Western, but it's been Indian Hills who has had an upperhand in the postseason winning five of the last seven contests.
  • Indian Hills defeated Iowa Western in both matchups in the 2023 Region 11 Tournament to win the team's second title in three seasons.

SCOUTING THE REIVERS

The No. 4 nationally ranked Reivers enter postseason play with a 48-7 overall record after going 31-2 overall in ICCAC play.

  • The top-seeded Reivers currently lead the nation in runs (614), extra base hits (276) and doubles (170).
  • The Reiver pitching staff boasts a 3.67 earned run average, 11th lowest in the nation.
  • Evan Saunders leads four Reivers batting .400 or batter on the year with a team-high .416 averaged to go along with 10 home runs and 54 RBI.
  • Noah Scott owns a 10-1 record with a 2.75 earned run average while Logan Olson (9-0) and Luke Broderick (6-0) are undefeated on the mound this year.

WHAT'S NEXT

The winner of the best-of-three series will punch its ticket to the NJCAA Midwest District Tournament, set for May 15-17 and hosted by the winner of the NJCAA Region 24 (Illinois) Championship.
