RAMIREZ NAMED ICCAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Jose Miguel Ramirez (Maturin, Venezuela/Alejandro De Humboldt) of the Indian Hills Men's Golf team has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Golfer of the Week after leading the Warriors at the Lindenwood Invitational.

In his collegiate debut, Ramirez led the No. 10 nationally ranked Warriors to a third-place team finish in St. Charles, MO with a 3-over 145 in the 36-hole tournament. Ramirez was the lone golfer in the 90-player field to shoot a round in the 60's after the freshman shot a second-round 65 to surge up the leaderboard.

After an opening round 80, Ramirez climbed 37 spots over the final 18 holes to take the third-place finish in his first collegiate action. Ramirez's second round was highlighted by back-to-back eagles in the 18th and 1st holes to spark a dominant run through the field.

Ramirez was the lone golfer to score two eagles and tied for second overall with seven birdies.

As a team, the Warriors placed third overall in the 16-team field with a 41-over 609. Indian Hills posted the second-best score among the seven junior college teams.
