SETTING THE STAGE

In a matchup of two historic junior college basketball programs, No. 5 Indian Hills and No. 18 Moberly Area will meet for the 80th time. The Warriors enter the contest with a 15-1 overall record after upending No. 9 Dodge City on New Year's Eve. The Greyhounds venture to Ottumwa with a 12-3 overall record, but are just 3-2 in their last five contests.

WARRIOR NOTES

  • The Warriors picked up their 15th win of the season on Saturday night with an 87-81 win over No. 9 Dodge City Community College (KS). The 15 wins before the start of the new year is the most since the 2017-18 season when the team went 16-0.
  • Indian Hills is 9-1 at the Hellyer Center this year – the Warriors currently lead the nation in total home attendance and rank second nationally in average attendance per game.
  • The Warriors hit 13 three-point shots on Saturday night and now rank ninth nationally with 10.1 three-point shots per game.
  • Tuesday's matchup with Moberly will be the Warriors' fourth game against a ranked opponent – Indian Hills holds a 3-0 record against ranked foes this season.

LAST TIME OUT

The last time these two teams met, No. 13 Indian Hills walked away with an 82-73 victory over No. 20 Moberly Area at the Iowa-Missouri Challenge in Burlington on November 13, 2021. Eddiean Tirado erupted for a career-high 29 points after setting a school record with nine three-point shots in the game.

SERIES HISTORY

Tuesday's matchup will be the 80th all-time meeting between these two perennial junior college powerhouse programs separated by just 125 miles.

  • Indian Hills owns a 43-36 advantage in the all-time series.
  • The Warriors have won 10 consecutive matchups dating back to the 2015-16 season.
  • The Greyhounds won 21 of the first 23 contests in the series between 1976 and 1991.
  • The two programs have combined for 47 national tournament appearances and seven national championships.

WARRIOR LEADERS

  • Truth Harris erupted for a career-high 37 points in Saturday's win over Dodge City. The 37 points were the most for a Warrior since Ria'n Holland dropped 37 in 2015.
  • Sophomore Lado Laku was a rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds against Dodge City. Laku added three blocks in the win.
  • David Jones grabbed nine rebounds Saturday night and leads the Warriors this year with 6.6 boards per contest.
  • The Warrior bench is contributing nearly 30 points a game this year, 18 points a game more than the opposition.

SIZING UP THE GREYHOUNDS

  • The Greyhounds are coming off one of its best offensive games of the season in a 106-61 victory vs. Harry S. Truman College (IL).
  • Moberly Area is 0-2 vs. common opponents with Indian Hills this year, dropping contests to both John A. Logan College (IL) and Sauk Valley Community College (IL). The Warriors defeated both opponents.
  • The Greyhounds are shooting 48.3 percent from the floor in its 12 wins, but just 33.2 percent in its three losses.
  • Jaheim Tanksley leads four Greyhounds in double-figures with 14.4 points per game

The Warriors will continue its homestand and will host Kansas City Kansas Community College at 7:00 PM on Saturday, January 7. The Blue Devils are coached by former Indian Hills assistant Brandon Burgette.
