Indian Hills (17-2) is set to travel to Triton (13-4) for the team's second consecutive road game as the Warriors and Trojans will square off in the first of a two-game series this year. Triton will travel to the Hellyer Center for the Warriors' regular season finale on February 25.

SETTING THE STAGE

The Warriors head into Wednesday night's matchup after a thrilling road win at Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) foe Southeastern Community College, ranked No. 18 in the nation at the time, on Saturday night. The Warriors rallied from a 12-point halftime deficit to upend the Blackhawks 59-56.

Triton has won four contests in a row after dropping ICCAC member Marshalltown Community College 82-58 in its latest game on January 14. The Trojans are 3-0 following the start of the new year.

WARRIOR NOTES

  • Saturday's win over Southeastern gave the Warriors their fourth win over a nationally ranked team in five matchups this year. Indian Hills is 6-2 overall against teams that have appeared in the national rankings this season.
  • Don McHenry led the Warriors with a team-high 19 points in the win. McHenry has led the Warriors in scoring seven times this year.
  • The Warriors are 4-1 on the year when trailing at halftime, including Saturday's 12-point intermission deficit at Southeastern.
  • The 12-point deficit at Southeastern was the second-largest comeback for the Warriors this year. Indian Hills trailed by as many as 13 at No. 9 Dodge City on December 31.
  • Truth Harris scored 17 points against Southeastern and is now averaging 21.3 points per contest over the team's last four games.

LAST TIME OUT

Last year's regular season finale on February 19 saw an instant classic in a top-10 clash. The Warriors, ranked No. 6 at the time, knocked off No. 10 Triton 87-84 in a thriller at the Hellyer Center.

Triton held a double-digit lead in the second half before the Warriors slowly chipped away. J'Vonne Hadley's three with under seven to play gave Indian Hills its first lead of the second half and the Warriors held on to complete the regular season sweep of the Trojans.

SERIES HISTORY

After taking both matchups in the series last season, the Warriors are 5-0 against the Trojans all-time. Along with last year's two victories, Indian Hills defeated Triton in 2019, 2015, and 1998. After winning the first three contests by an average of 24.3 points per game, Indian Hills defeated Triton by just three points in each matchup last year.

Wednesday night's matchup will be just the second-ever trip to the Collins Center for the Warriors after the team made its first trip on January 12 of last year.

SCOUTING THE TROJANS

Under second year head coach John Clancy, Triton opened the year ranked No. 7 in the preseason national rankings. After opening the year with a 5-3 record, the Trojans have won eight of their last nine contests.

  • Three of Triton's losses have come against teams that competed against the Warriors already this season – John A. Logan, Southeastern, and Moberly Area. Moberly Area is the lone team to beat both teams this year.
  • Triton ranks in the top-10 in the nation in five separate categories, including steals per game (2nd), three-point shots made per game (5th), and opponents' three-point field goal percentage (7th).
  • Just one player returns from last year's Triton team that saw action against the Warriors. Brandon Muntu averaged 7.0 PPG and 3.5 RPG in the two matchups. Muntu is averaging 15.0 PPG this year while averaging eight three-point shot attempts a game.
  • Devon Barnes is averaging a team-high 16.1 PPG for the Trojans this year while shooting 44.3 percent from three-point range.
