WARRIORS EDGE NO. 9 TRITON IN FINALE

Ottumwa, IA – No. 6 Indian Hills Men's Basketball picked up its third win over a top-10 team Saturday night with an 87-84 victory vs. No. 9 Triton College (IL) at the Hellyer Center. The Warriors close out the regular season with a 27-3 overall record.

Playing in his final regular season game of the year, sophomore Enoch Kalambay (Gatineau, Canada/Orangeville Prep) led the Warriors with 19 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Truth Harris (Mount Vernon, NY/Pensacola) added 14 points on 5-6 shooting while Kiran Oliver (Chicago, IL/New Mexico State) and David Jones (Sacramento, CA/Panola) each added 10 points.

The win over the Trojans was the second of the year for Indian Hills as the Warriors moved to 7-0 all-time in matchups against Triton. The last four contests between the two national tournament teams from a year ago have been top-25 matchups, each over the last two years.

Saturday's game marked the regular season finale as the Warriors capped the year at 16-2 at the Hellyer Center. Indian Hills is 7-1 vs. top-20 nationally ranked teams this year, including a 3-0 mark against teams ranked in the top-10. The Warriors are 7-3 vs. top-10 teams dating back to the 2018-19 season.

In the first matchup between the two teams back on January 18, the Warriors erased a 14-point halftime deficit to win 98-88. Saturday's contest saw Indian Hills build an 18-point lead in the opening half before the Trojans responded down the stretch in the second half. Triton pulled within two midway through the second half before a three-point play from Don McHenry (Milwaukee, IA/Hawaii-Hilo) extended the lead.

The Trojans kept things close with multiple three-point deficits, but Ryan Myers (Brooklyn, NY/Iona) and McHenry hit back-to-back three-point shots to push the lead to 82-74. Myers sealed the game in the closing seconds with two free throws for the three-point win.

Saturday's game marked the second-straight year the Warriors closed out the regular season with an 87-84 win over Triton after the two sides played to an identical score on February 19, 2022.

The Warriors will now enter postseason play with the upcoming NJCAA Region XI Championship game on Saturday, March 4 at the Hellyer Center. Indian Hills will host the winner of Southeastern Community College and Marshalltown Community College who will play on Wednesday, March 1.
