WARRIORS UP TO NO. 5 IN NATIONAL POLL

Ottumwa, IA – After its third top-10 win of the year, the Indian Hills Men's Basketball team closed out the regular season ranked No. 5 in the final National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Basketball poll.

The Warriors defeated Triton College (IL) 87-84 Saturday night at the Hellyer Center to move to 27-3 overall on the year. The Warriors climbed one spot in the national poll after sitting at No. 6 the previous two weeks. Indian Hills has been ranked in the top-seven of the national poll each of the 15 weeks this year.

The Warriors have finished within the top-six of the final national poll of the regular season in each of the last four years.

Indian Hills is tied for the second-most wins in the nation with its 27 victories this year. Eight of those wins have come against teams that are currently in the national rankings or receiving votes category while three wins have come during a top-10 matchup with the Warriors.

Indian Hills went 2-0 last week with a 94-71 win over North Central Missouri College (MO) and the three-point win over Triton. The Warriors have now won five in a row and 12 of the last 13.

The Warriors have now won 27 games in each season under head coach Hank Plona, not including the 2020-21 season that was impacted by COVID-19, a run of seven full seasons.

Next up for the Warriors is the 2023 NJCAA Region XI Championship game at 7:00 PM Saturday, March 4 at the Hellyer Center. The Warriors will play the winner of Marshalltown Community College and Southeastern Community College who will play Wednesday, March 1 in West Burlington, IA.
