With a berth in the upcoming NJCAA North Central District Championship on the line, the two long-time conference foes will square off Saturday night at the Hellyer Center as Indian Hills (27-3, 4-0) hosts Southeastern (23-8, 2-2).

STARTING FIVE

The Warriors are back in the NJCAA Region XI title game for the ninth consecutive year, having won eight of those championship matchups.

  • Sophomore Enoch Kalambay was named the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week and third time this season after helping the Warriors close out the regular season on a five-game winning streak.
  • Indian Hills is 16-2 at the Hellyer Center this year, the most home victories for the Warriors since the 2019-20 squad went a perfect 21-0 at home. Indian Hills leads the nation this year with 7,197 total fans in attendance.
  • The Warriors' stifling defense ranks second nationally with a 36.9 percent opponents' field goal percentage on the year.
  • Indian Hills closed out the regular season at No. 5 in the final NJCAA National Poll. The Warriors have placed in the top-six of the final poll in each of the last four years.
  • The Warriors' 27 wins are tied for the third-most in the NJCAA this season. Seven of those wins have come against nationally ranked opponents, including three top-10 wins.

LAST TIME OUT

The Warriors swept the regular season series from Southeastern, including an 81-65 victory at the Hellyer Center on February 4 to clinch the ICCAC regular season crown. Don McHenry poured in 24 points while Enoch Kalambay scored nine points with 10 rebounds and five assists.

In the first matchup this year, the Warriors erased a 12-point halftime deficit to knock off the then-No. 18 Blackhawks 59-56 at Loren Walker Arena on January 14.

POSTSEASON HISTORY

Indian Hills holds a 21-19 all-time series lead in the postseason, including three straight wins in the NJCAA Region XI Championship game dating back to the 2020 title matchup.

  • The last five postseason matchups between the two teams have all been decided by double-digits, including a 37-point victory for Indian Hills in the 2017 semifinals.

Southeastern enters Saturday night winners of its last four contests, including back-to-back wins over Marshalltown. The Blackhawks dropped Marshalltown 76-55 in the NJCAA Region XI Tournament semifinals on Wednesday night.

  • Southeastern's defense boasts a 37.0 percent opponent's field goal percentage this year, the third-best mark in the nation.
  • Davion Bailey is averaging a team-high 15.1 points per game on 41.5 percent shooting from three-point range. Bailey has averaged 15.0 points per game in the two matchups with the Warriors this year.

The winner of Saturday night's matchup will advance to the NJCAA North Central District Championship against the NJCAA Region XIII winner out of Montana and North Dakota. The seven-team tournament gets underway Saturday.

The NJCAA North Central District Championship is set for Saturday, March 11 with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, KS beginning March 20.
