WARRIORS FALL IN NATIONAL SEMIS

Hutchinson, KS – No. 6 Indian Hills Men's Basketball suffered a 79-75 loss to No. 7 Northwest Florida State College in the semifinal round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Basketball National Tournament on Friday night. The Warriors' season ends with a top-four finish at the national tournament and a 29-5 record.

One night removed from a heroic comeback that saw the Warriors overcome a 15-point deficit to knock off No. 3 Odessa College (TX), the Warriors fell late to the Raiders in its third game in as many days. Sophomore Enoch Kalambay (Gatineau, Canada/Orangeville Prep) scored a team-high 13 points while Don McHenry (Milwaukee, WI/Hawaii-Hilo) added 12 and Trevion LaBeaux (Waterloo, IA/Ames) chipped in 10.

After scoring the game's first basket at the 19:19 mark of the first half, the Warriors held the lead for the next 29:02 of the contest when the Raiders knotted the game at 54-all with 11:17 to play in the contest. Indian Hills regained the lead and built its advantage to as many as eight over the next six minutes before the Raiders stormed back to take its first lead of the night at 69-68 with 3:11 to play.

Both sides traded leads over the next two minutes before a Northwest Florida State basket with 1:43 to play put the Raiders ahead for good.

The Warriors' top-four finish at the national tournament is its seventh in program history and first since finishing as runners-up in 2014.

Northwest Florida State advances to the national title game Saturday afternoon at the Hutchinson Sports Arena where the Raiders will take on top-seeded John A. Logan College (IL) at 1:00 PM.
