The Indian Hills Men's Basketball team is set to make its season debut Tuesday night with a road trip to McCook at the Graff Events Center.

OPENING TIP

Head Coach Josh Sash makes his head coaching debut for the Warriors on Tuesday as the No. 14 ranked Warriors hit the road for the season opener.

  • The Warriors begin the new year with three returners from last year's NJCAA Final Four run – Davontae Hall, David Hermes, and Trevion LaBeaux, along with second-year member Shamir Caruthers.
  • Dating back to the 2010-11 season, the Warriors are 26-1 all-time vs. teams from the state of Nebraska and are 9-0 in games played in the Cornhusker state.
  • Indian Hills will open on the road for the first time since 2021 season during the COVID-19 season and just the second road opener since the 1994-95 season.
  • Tuesday marks the first of four true road games in the month of November for the Warriors.

SASH'S NOTES

"We're excited to get this season started," stated head coach Josh Sash. "Our guys have made steady progress throughout the last month and we're excited to tip it off against a quality McCook team. It will be a very good road test for us right off the bat."

LAST TIME OUT

Indian Hills took a 92-61 decision over the Indians at the Hellyer Center last year as part of the Reed Overhead Doors Classic that pushed the Warriors' record to 8-0 to start the year.

Trevion LaBeaux tallied eight points while Davontae Hall added four and David Hermes contributed five points in the win for the Warriors.

SERIES HISTORY

Indian Hills owns a 5-0 all-time record over McCook, including four wins since 2014. Tuesday's contest will be the Warriors' first-ever trip to McCook in the series history. During the five-game series, Indian Hills has outscored McCook by an average score of 27.8 points per game.

SCOUTING THE INDIANS

McCook has opened up the 2023-24 campaign with a 1-2 record, going 1-1 on its home court this past weekend.

  • The Indians opened the year on the road with a narrow 79-73 loss to Garden City Community College on November 1.
  • McCook defeated Eastern Wyoming College 99-74 in its home opener November 3.
  • Laramie County Community College upended the Indians 87-56 in McCook on November 4.
  • Through three contests, the Indians are led by Louie Tucker's 13.0 points per game and Trey Summers' 12.3 points per contest.
  • The Indians are coming off an 11-20 campaign from a year ago.

WHAT'S NEXT

Indian Hills returns home to host the annual Iowa-Missouri Challenge at the Hellyer Center November 10-11. The two-day, eight-game features the Warriors taking on Missouri State University – West Plains at 7:00 PM on Friday night and Moberly Area College (MO) at 7:00 PM on Saturday night.
