Niceville, FL – The Indian Hills Men's Basketball team is set for a five-day road swing with three high-level contests. The Warriors will take on the likes of Northwest Florida State College, Coastal Alabama Community College – North, and Vincennes University (IN).

OPENING TIP

Indian Hills has opened up the 2023-24 campaign with a fast start, winning all three of its early season contests as the Warriors are set for its biggest road tests of the year.

  • The Warriors are averaging 90.0 PPG through its first three contests of the year, including a 109-point output in the season opener on the road at McCook Community College
  • Indian Hills posted a 2-0 record at the 4th annual Iowa-Missouri Challenge, knocking off Missouri State University – West Plains 86-75 and No. 20 Moberly Area Community College 75-72 in a thriller behind Braden Sparks' game-winning three-point shot.
  • Five different individuals are averaging double-figures through the first three contests, led by Kheni Briggs' 17.3 points per game.
  • Sparks and David Hermes have sparked the Warriors from beyond the arc early on, combining to shoot 10-16 three-point range this season.
  • The Warriors have outrebounded their opponents early on this year by an average of nine boards per contest.
  • Indian Hills climbed to No. 7 in the latest NJCAA rankings after opening the year at No. 14 in the preseason poll.
  • The Warriors will cover over 2,000 miles roundtrip throughout the week.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS

An annual date on the Warriors' schedule as of late, Indian Hills will take on top-ranked Northwest Florida State for the third time in the last two seasons.

  • The two perennial national title contenders are set to match up for the seventh time in program history, all since 2013. Both sides have been in the national rankings in each of the seven matchups.
  • The Warriors took last year's first contest at the Hellyer Center with Northwest Florida State ranked No. 1 and Indian Hills ranked No. 2 before the Raiders eliminated the Warriors in the national semifinals in March.
  • Northwest Florida State is off to a 6-0 start on the year, having won their last three contests by an average score of 27.0 points per game.
  • Tajuan Simpkins leads four players in double-figures with a team-high 15.6 points per game while shooting 53.6 percent from three-point range on the year.
  • The Raiders are forcing more than 20 turnovers per game while outrebounding their opponents by 12.0 rebounds per contest.

SCOUTING THE COYOTES

The Warriors make a quick turnaround after Tuesday night's heavyweight battle with a 101-mile trek to Coastal Alabama.

  • Wednesday's affair will be the Warriors' first-ever trip to the state of Alabama and just the second all-time matchup against a team from Alabama. The Warriors defeated Shelton State Community College 80-68 on December 12, 2003 in Panama City, FL.
  • The Coyotes are off to a 2-1 start on the year after dropping its season opener to Southern Union State Community College 83-81 before rallying for two consecutive wins over Coastal Alabama Community College-South and Southwest Mississippi Community College.
  • Mikey Mcintosh is leading the way for the Coyotes with a team-high 17.7 points per game while shooting 58.1 percent from the floor and 50.0 percent from three-point range.
  • The Coyotes are currently ranked third in the nation with 35.3 free throw attempts per game and fourth nationally with 24.3 free throws made per game.

SCOUTING THE TRAILBLAZERS

The Warriors make its first trip to national power Vincennes since November 10, 2015.

  • Vincennes, ranked No. 5 has jumped out to a 4-0 start on the year, outscoring its opponents by an average margin of 22.3 points per game.
  • The Trailblazers scored a key win over No. 25 Monroe College 84-66 on November 11.
  • Vincennes is led by freshman guard Lebron Thomas' team-high 18.0 points per game while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor to go along with 4.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds.
  • Karyiek Dixon and Kris King are scoring in double-figures as well, averaging 11.8 points and 10.5 points per game, respectively.
  • Indian Hills is 3-4 all-time vs. the Trailblazers, but are 2-1 over the team's last three meetings, including a 68-40 win on November 24, 2021.
  • Saturday's matchup will be Vincennes' seventh consecutive home game to open the year following two home contests this week prior to its date with the Warriors.

WHAT'S NEXT

Following the grueling road trip, the Warriors will return home for the remainder of the 2023 calendar year, a slate of 10 contests, including its first matchup of the new year in January. First up for the Warriors is a matchup with Kansas City Kansas Community College on Tuesday, November 21.
