- The Warriors head into the weekend with a 5-1 record at the Hellyer Center, with its lone loss to No. 2 South Plains (TX), a narrow 74-68 decision on December 1.
- Trevion LaBeaux continued to thrive on the court, picking up his second ICCAC Athlete of the Week honor this week following his sixth double-double of the year.
- In seven wins this season, the Warriors are averaging 86.3 points per contest.
- Saturday's contest with Southern Idaho will be the Warriors' 10th different opponent from a different state in the team's 12 games this season, including teams from three different time zones.
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP ATMOSPHERE
The early portion of the 2023-24 campaign for the Warriors has seen its fair share of high-profile guests at the Hellyer Center, and this weekend's Reed Overhead Doors Classic will be no different.
- The Hellyer Center will play host to 10 NJCAA DI Men's Basketball National Championships this weekend. Vincennes has won four national titles in program history (1965, 1970, 1972, and 2019), tied for the most of all NJCAA programs. Southern Idaho has captured three national titles (1976, 1987, and 2011) while Indian Hills is the only team in NJCAA history to win three consecutive national titles (1997, 1998, 1999).
- Indian Hills, Vincennes, and Southern Idaho have combined for 83 all-time NJCAA DI Men's Basketball National Tournament appearances, with all three programs having earned a bid in 2023.
- Indian Hills (29-19), Vincennes (70-53), and Southern Idaho (54-35) have combined for a .589 winning percentage at the national tournament with a combined 153 wins.
SCOUTING THE TRAILBLAZERS
The two NJCAA Blue Blood programs will square off for the second time this season, and eighth time in the all-time series.
- Vincennes has gotten off to a fast start this year with an unblemished record at 10-0, including an 86-76 win over Indian Hills in Vincennes on November 18.
- The Trailblazers have played just two contests on the road, with one true game at Moberly Area on November 25, a 76-67 win.
- Lebron Thomas leads the offense for the Trailblazers with 17.0 PPG while Kris King chips in 11.9 PPG. Michael Osei-Bonsu averages a double-double with 11.1 PPG and 10.3 RPG.
- Vincennes is allowing just 59.5 PPG on 35.7 OPP FG%. Both marks are the sixth-lowest in the NJCAA this year.
- Vincennes holds a 5-3 series lead over the Warriors, but the two sides have split the last four meetings.
- The Trailblazers will be making their first trip to the Hellyer Center since 2016, and just the second time in program history.
- December 2, 2016: Vincennes 86, Indian Hills 85
- January 3, 2012: Indian Hills 84, Vincennes 73
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Indian Hills will take on the Southern Idaho Golden Eagles in the weekend finale at the Hellyer Center on Saturday night.
- The Golden Eagles have played an equally impressive schedule this year, having recently travelled to the Wrangler Club Shootout in Odessa, TX picking up a win over former No. 7 Midland while falling by just two, 76-74 to nationally ranked Odessa.
- After starting the season 1-2, the Golden Eagles have won six of their last eight.
- Southern Idaho was ranked No. 10 in the preseason NJCAA poll and were ranked in each of the first two regular season polls before falling out.
- Asim Jones averages a team-high 19.3 points per game while shooting 53.2 percent from the floor.
- Five different players are grabbing at least 4.0 RPG, led by Shahid Muhammad's 5.3 as the Golden Eagles are outrebounding their opponents 43.5 to 37.3 on the year.
