OPENING TIP

Indian Hills hits the road in a marquee matchup between two perennial powerhouse programs. The Warriors (16-4) head to River Grove, IL with a four-game winning streak to take on Triton (19-1) and its 8-0 home record at the Collins Center.

  • The Warriors head into Wednesday night's matchup with four-straight double-digit wins, outscoring their opponents by 103 points for an average of 25.8 points per contest.
  • Sophomore Trevion LaBeaux is one of just three players in the nation to average at least 14.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and 72.0 percent from three free throw line.
  • Wednesday night's game will be the Warriors' seventh top-25 matchup of the year, and fourth against a top-15 opponent. 
  • Wednesday marks the Warriors' 27th top-25 matchup over the last three seasons and 16th game against a top-15 opponent.
  • The Warriors have won 23 of their last 25 matchups against teams from the state of Illinois.

LAST TIME OUT

Indian Hills is coming off its largest win of the year with a 48-point drubbing of Carl Sandburg College (IL) on Saturday night. The Warriors dropped the Chargers 100-52 at the Hellyer Center as all 14 players reached the scoring column on the team's most efficient shooting night of the year.

William Beugre-Kassi led all scorers with 14 points in the balanced scoring attack while Chris Mpaka collected his second double-double in the team's last three games.

SERIES HISTORY

The Warriors and Trojans will match up for the fifth time in the last three years, and eighth time overall. Indian Hills has won all seven games in the series history, with three of the last four decided by just three points each time.

  • Wednesday's affair will be the sixth consecutive nationally ranked matchup between the two clubs dating back to 2019.
  • In a top-10 matchup in the last meeting, the Warriors edged the Trojans 87-84 on February 25, 2023 at the Hellyer Center.
  • The Warriors took the first all-time meeting in the series, a 98-54 win on November 21, 1998 at the Hellyer Center as part of the Bud Light Classic.
  • Indian Hills won the most recent matchup in River Grove on January 18, 2023, a 98-88 victory.

SCOUTING THE TROJANS

Triton is competing in its sixth season at the NJCAA DI level after winning the 2017-18 NJCAA DII National Championship. Under first-year head coach Brian Burns, Triton won its first 17 contests of the year before suffering its first loss.

  • Triton's lone loss of the year came on January 17, a 101-85 loss at Kaskaskia, a team the Warriors dropped 84-73 on the road on January 24.
  • The Trojans are coming off a 110-87 rout of Southeastern in Burlington on Saturday that saw Triton make 24-35 three-point shots in the win.
  • Triton currently leads the nation in three-point shots made per game with 13.3 and fourth overall with 31.4 attempts per game.
  • Led by Amar Augillard's 22.3 points per game, the Trojans rank seventh nationally with 94.9 points per game.
  • Triton will make a trip to Ottumwa for Indian Hills' regular season finale at the Hellyer Center on March 2.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Warriors will return home to the Hellyer Center on Saturday, February 3 to take on Marshalltown Community College at 7:00 PM in an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) clash. Saturday's contest is a part of Hall of Fame night where the Indian Hills Hall of Fame Class of 2024 will officially be inducted at halftime with a reception open to the public following the game.
