WARRIORS DROP HIGHLAND ON THE ROAD

Freeport, IL – No. 16 Indian Hills Men's Basketball scored its fifth consecutive victory on Saturday with a 78-70 win on the road at Highland Community College (IL). The Warriors improved to 21-5 overall on the year.

Indian Hills put five players in double-figures, led by sophomore Trevion LaBeaux's (Waterloo, IA/Ames) 12th double-double of the year for the Warriors. LaBeaux tallied 14 points on 6-9 shooting to go along with a game-high 14 rebounds, including eight on the offensive glass. The sophomore added a pair of blocks and a steal in the win.

Kheni Briggs (Kannapolis, NC/Charleston Southern) came off the bench to score 14 points while Davontae Hall (Chicago, IL/Hyde Park) and TJ Morris (Queens, NY/Northeastern Oklahoma A&M) chipped in 13 apiece.

Sophomore Chris Mpaka (Kinsasha, Congo/Frank Phillips) joined LaBeaux with a double-double of his own, his fourth of the year, scoring 10 points while pulling down 13 rebounds. Mpaka is now averaging 14.0 rebounds over the team's last four games, and 11.7 during the previous nine contests where the Warriors are 8-1.

LaBeaux and Mpaka are now averaging a combined 19.6 rebounds per game on the year, including 12.0 offensive boards per contest. The duo leads the nation for most combined rebounds between a pair of teammates.

A three from Briggs early on opened up a 10-7 lead for the Warriors in the first half of action. The Warriors built a double-digit lead for a majority of the first half before a late push from the Cougars brought the game within three, 41-38 at the break.

Indian Hills regained its double-digit advantage in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Cougars stayed within contention down the stretch. The Indian Hills defense clamped down in the closing minutes and held off a late rally from the Cougars for the team's fifth consecutive victory.

Saturday's game closed out the Warriors' road schedule for the 2023-24 campaign as the team returns home for four consecutive home games to cap the regular season. Indian Hills welcomes Sauk Valley Community College to the Hellyer Center on February 21 at 7:00 PM.
