Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore TJ Morris (Queens, NY/Northeastern Oklahoma A&M) of the No. 13 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Basketball team has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon,
Morris becomes the Warriors fifth individual to garner ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors this season after a standout performance on the hardwood last week. Morris helped lead Indian Hills to a pair of wins, including a victory over league foe Southeastern Community College to clinch the regular season ICCAC title.
In two contests last week, Morris averaged 15.0 points per game while filling the stat sheet with 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game. The Warriors scored a 92-77 win over Sauk Valley Community College (IL) before dropping Southeastern 78-69 at the Hellyer Center on Saturday night.
Against Sauk Valley, Morris poured in a season-high 20 points to go along with nine rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks. The guard followed up with 10 points, six rebounds, six assists, three blocks, and a steal against the Blackhawks.
The sophomore has helped the Warriors win eight consecutive games, scoring in double-figures in the last seven contests, averaging 13.0 points per game during the stretch. Morris is also contributing 5.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game since February 6.
The Warriors close out the regular season at home on Saturday with a 7:00 PM date against No. 3 nationally ranked Triton College (IL) as part of sophomore night.
