Ottumwa, IA – A pair of former Indian Hills Basketball standouts have inked professional contracts in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). Former teammates Maurice Calloo and JD Muila have signed with a pair of teams for the upcoming 2024 campaign.
Calloo, a member of the 2019-20 Indian Hills Basketball team, has signed with the Saskatchewan Rattlers while Muila has signed on with the Ottawa BlackJacks in his hometown of Ottawa, Canada. The 2024 CEBL season opens up May 21.
A two-year member of the Warriors, Muila appeared in 54 career games with 42 starts at Indian Hills before transferring to Southern Illinois University. Muila spent two seasons with the Salukis before embarking on a professional career, including his most recent stop with Froya Basket in the Norwegian BLNO where he averaged 19.7 points and 13.8 rebounds per game in 2023 to go along with 23 double-doubles.
Calloo, who helped lead the Warriors to a 30-3 record during the COVID-shortened 2019-20 season, brings plenty of experience to the Rattlers' roster for this year. The 6'10 forward, a native of Windsor, Ontario, has earned stints in the NBA G League with the UTAH Jazz and the Chicago Bulls, the FIBA AmeriCup in Brazil, as well as previous stops in the CEBL. Calloo spent the 2023 season with the Calgary Surge of the CEBL before signing with Grengewald Hostert of LBBL in Luxembourg.
Calloo spent one season with the Warriors after transferring in from Oklahoma State University. An All-Region 11 Honorable Mention selection for the Warriors, Calloo finished his collegiate career with Oregon State University before joining the professional ranks.
Calloo and Muila are part of a lengthy list of former Warriors currently competing in professional basketball. More than 35 individuals are currently competing aross the globe representing Indian Hills at the pro level.
